私の小さい頃からの”ものづくり”への熱意は、いつも”あたらしいものを見たい”という好奇心から生まれてきました。大学で鍛金を専攻し始めてからは、日々様々な金属が見せる新しい表情に魅了され続けてきました。また、１０代から始まった旅は、いつも想像してなかった経験やインスピレーションに満ちていて、もっと見たいという意欲をかき立てられます。

6年前に初めて訪れた南米コロンビアの旅では、原住民の人たちと出会い、私がそれまで特に興味を抱いていた”植物や生き物の多様性”、”工芸品やものづくり”、”人と自然との関係性”と全てがつながりました。

彼らの捉える”母なる大地”は雄大で、寛容で、私たちの全てを包み込みます。私はコロンビアの山を登りながら、高い空から降ってくる葉が土に迎えられている様子を見て、そして彼らが大切にしている自然の知恵と神話の話を聞き、先人たちと今の私たちが、おなじ土、おなじ水、おなじ風でつながっているように感じました。

”命のつながり”への賛美の想いを込めて、毎日のように金属と対話しながら制作しています。金槌で叩き続ける時の振動は、私の胸に響き、私が金属と積み重ねた時間とエネルギーは手を通じて作品に込められていると願っています。

My passion for "making things" since childhood has always stemmed from a curiosity to "see new things."

Since starting my major in "metalworking" at university, I have been continuously fascinated by the new expressions that various metals reveal every day. Furthermore, the travels I've undertaken since my teens have always been filled with unexpected experiences and inspiration, fueling my desire to see more.

Six years ago, on my first trip to Colombia in South America, I met indigenous people, and everything connected to my previous interests: "the diversity of plants and animals," "crafts and manufacturing," and "the relationship between people and nature."

Their perception of "Mother Earth" is majestic, generous, and embraces us all. As I climbed the mountains of Colombia, watching leaves falling from the high sky and being welcomed into the soil, and listening to the wisdom and myths of nature that they cherish, I felt a connection between our ancestors and us today, through the same soil, the same water, and the same wind. With a feeling of celebration for the "connection of life," I create my works while interacting with metal almost every day. The vibrations from continuously hammering resonate in my heart, and I hope that the time and energy I have accumulated with the metal are infused into the work through my hands.
